A wide range of clients express being impressed and “thrilled” with Steve’s attention to detail, his “excellent” copyediting abilities, and “superior” editorial approach — consistency, usage, and coherency being of prime importance.

Working in the publishing industry for over 20 years, Steven Rossman is an editor and proofreader with specialties in fiction, educational workbooks, medical articles, as well as magazine and annual reports. His list of clients includes Johns Hopkins University, Kennedy Krieger Institute, The Sidney Kimmel Comprehensive Cancer Center, Loyola College, Trahan, Burden & Charles (TBC), Harvey & Daughters, GKV, and T. Rowe Price.

Steve graduated with honors in English, with a BA from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College). He understands the writer’s craft and, coupled with his teaching background, uses a unique feedback process that provides positive critique and suggestions for improving an author’s manuscript.

Well versed in the major figures and events of the last century, including swing, jazz, radio shows, movie stars, television and American writers, Steve is especially adept with art and cultural materials. Steve was also a secondary education English teacher who taught learning disabled students and led grammar usage and creative writing classes for adults — making him an asset in an educational setting.

Besides being a detailed copy editor, Steve’s background with novels, short stories, and nonfiction is useful to authors seeking help with story and character development, continuity, and grammar and usage issues.
